Corralejo, Spain, Europe

Lying to the east of Gran Canaria, nearly 100 km off the coast of Africa, Fuerteventura is a volcanic jewel lapped by some of the clearest seas in the entire universe. While the second largest island by area, remains the least densely populated and the most tranquil and laid back of all the Canaries. Its strong winds, coupled with the over 50 km of white sand beaches set the perfect backdrop for kiteboarding. For most kiters, Flag beach (Corralejo) on the northeast is the major draw, known particularly for the picturesque semi-desert landscape and the cross-shore winds that constantly whip across the area from March through to November. You can find kite schools on and off the sands of Corralejo, all of which provide a variety of courses or rent kite gear. The island enjoys a subtropical climate, with an average annual temperature of 21°C. Flag beach kitesurf can be practiced all year-round with winter bringing big Atlantic, open ocean swells.
