Set beautifully amidst volcanic landscape, Lanzarote is the most easterly and dramatic island of the Canary Islands. Thanks to its just-off-the-coast-of-Africa location, boasts near-perfect weather year round. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Lanzarote kitesurf has been ranked among the top in the world. Destined to be a Kitesurfers’ paradise, the bay of Famara, is a massive beach break framed dramatically by a volcanic backdrop. The beach picks up most Atlantic swells with wave heights reaching over 8 ft.(triple overhead), primarily during winter months. Mid March to mid September is considered to be the best kiting season. The northeast trade winds blow steadily side-shore with wind speed range up to 18-30knots; ideal conditions for all levels and styles of kite boarding. Although it has grown in popularity, Famara remains relatively uncrowded and unspoiled. There are several schools and camps located in Caleta de Famara, in which you can learn to kitesurf or rent kite board equipment. There is also a good choice of shops, bars, eating places and nightspots.
